You would be thinking why did he leave his Town Hall outside, he would lose every defense. Actually the is a good reason for Town Hall outside even though you will lose some trophies the benefit is better. Leaving the Town Hall outside is part of a Clash of Clans strategy called Farming
What is Farming ?
So you are wondering what is this strategy called Farming. Well Farming is a time period when a player raids constantly to gather resources and doesn't really care for his ranking or trophies, also when his Town Hall is destroyed the player will get a 12 hour shield so he can fall to sleep without worrying about his resources.
But leaving Town Hall outside doesn't mean that a player is Farming. In the entire game of Clash of Clans there are a lot of Town Hall snipers (players that attack and destroy Town Hall's that are outside), these snipers usually are low level player's. High level players or farmers take advantage of them and leave the Town Hall outside to get a free 12 hour shield.
Conclusion
If you are a new player or a player who is trying to gather resources for upgrades then leave you Town Hall in the corner and there will be a high chance that you will get sniped and you'll get a free 12 hour shield.
