4th Mortar in Clash of Clans Update - Pros and Cons


After Clash of Clans October 2014 Update for the Halloween Weekend which occurred yesterday expect many surprises like Skeleton Traps, Clans search and interface improvments, player profile improvments and many more there was a big suprise : 4th Mortar.

Yea it's true, the 4th Mortar now it's avalibale to buy if you are Town Hall level 8 and above. Of course this brings a lot of confussion because 4 mortars are like a bit too much or will be hard to beat with Barch Strategy and for other players who farm a lot.

So here i'm going to write some pros and cons or having a 4th Mortar in Clash of Clans.


Cons of having a 4th Mortar in Clash of Clans :

  • Lower number of trophies - this is so easy to notice and to take it in consideration, good defense = attack lose. So with a 4th Mortar in game there will be harder to win of certain bases and this will cause in lower trophy among all players.
  • Every base design is outdated for Town Hall 8 and above - newest addition is going to throw in the trash can every base design for Town Hall 8 and above for some reasons. There is going to be some confusion and difficulties to adapt the 4th Mortar into base designs because this will force players to place something like Cannon, Archer Tower or even Dark Elixir drill outside of the safe walls.
  • Farming or Barching get's harder - most of the players when they need resources or try to max their base then they drop a few leagues and start farming or barching. With the 4th Mortar in game this is going to get harder because splash damage they do it's deadly for Archers and even Barbarians after a few hit's. Even though Barbarian and Archer level 7 troops was introduced in the last update the 4th Mortar looks like a revenge to them.

Pros of having a 4th Mortar in Clash of Clans :

  • Better base defense - of course the new Mortar will make Town Hall level 8 bases and above even stronger. They can be combined to make a square, diamond or rectangle and cover almost every corner of the base.
  • New defense or troop - the new addition will make or push the game developers to create new defense buildings or troop. In the current update the added a lot of defense improvement the 4th Mortar and Skeleton Traps so obviously it's time that in the next update there will be added a Cannon, Archer Tower, Wizard Tower or a new defense buildings. The same thing with troops, all these new defenses will make the developers to create new troops to handle the defense, or at least that's what is think.
  • Challenging game - this addition will make the game more challenging and will push players to use better troops and improve their army/strategies when attacking. Also if you are a hardcore gamer  that you'll love more challenge in game, right.

Skeleton Trap - October 2014 Update


After the Halloween Update that was released todat among the new features and improvments there were was added a new trap, Skeleton Trap. This trap is becuase of the Halloween Weekend but it's confirmed that it's a permanent addtition and will be avaliable even after the Halloween.

 Information and Summary :


  • Skeleton Traps are coffins that take up 1x1 space. They remain hidden until attacking troop enter in it's radius.
  • When attacking troop enter it's radius the coffin raises from the groud and a groups of Skeletons raise from the ground around it, to attack nearby troops.
  • They can be set to attack Ground or Air troops.
  • The number of Skeletons that raise up depends on the level of the Trap. (check the list below)

Clash of Clans October 2014 Update 22/10/2014


Since the Halloween is comming soon and Clash of Clans has anonceed a new update with a lot of new things and features. A new game loading background, Skeleton Trap, improved Clan Setting and Search, improved Player Profile, 1 gem boost for Spell Factory, increased loot bonus in Clan Wars & Leagues and much more.

New Trap : The Skeleton Trap!


  • This trap is similiar to Clan Castle defence troops, because when attackers get in it's range a small group Skeletons get out and fight them.
  • The Skeleton Trap can be set to attack either ground or air troops.
  • Skeleton Traps become available at Town Hall 8 and can be upgraded to deloy more Skeltons at once.


Limited special treats during Halloween Weekend!

  • You can boost you Spell Factory for 1-gem!
  • Obstacles will be filled with Halloween Headstones and will give you special elixir bonus when you remove them.


Clan search and profile improvments!

  • Specify your Clan's war frequency and locatio in the Clan profile
  • Every Clan has a own unique #hashtag and can be found easier by it.
  • Search Clans by war frequency, location, member count and clan points.
Higher loot bonus for Clan Wars and Leagues.

  • Now you get higher loot bonus for Clan Wars and Leagues.
Boost improvments.

  • Boost all buildings which are the same type with one button.
  • During maintenance breaks Barracks, Spell Factory and Hero which are being boosted will be paused untill the break finishes and then countinue.
  • Reduced boost for Gold Mine and Elixir Pumps.
Other features and improvments.

  • A new Mortar is available to buy at Town Hall 8
  • Player profile now shows all troops and their levels of the player.
  • Army Camp troops are now visible to visitors when the tap info screen.
  • Removing time for obstacles is now lower.
  • More space for loot bonus on all Clan Castle levels.

Maintenance break and update 3.25 - Archer level 11 etc.



Clash of clans was down for a maintenance break today, it is now back online. There was also a new update for the game released last week which is now version 3.25. This increased the levels some units and buildings can be upgraded amongst other things.



here are the 4 units from the clash of clans Facebook page (minus the archer):

The archers looks as it does on the level 11 archer tower which is pictured below, one advantage of the level 6 archer is a level 5 mortar will not kill it with one hit.
The giant, balloon and barbarian all look quite impressive.

- Wall levels 9 and 10 strengthened: hold off the rampaging hordes for longer.
- Shop now notifies when new items are available.
- New Achievements: Heroic Heist and Mortar Mauler.
- Tapping a trap shows its trigger radius.

Dark Elixir and Hero units



A new resource is coming soon.

It's called Dark Elixir, clash of clans posted this on their Facebook page:

"Chief, a new resource has been discovered!! 
Coming soon: Dark Elixir, formed over aeons from fossilized Black Dragon bones!

Apparently Dark Elixir will be used to buy new hero unit's, you need a town hall level 7 to buy the collector for dar elixir, which you can see in the image above. Below is a sneak peak of 2 new hero units in action, also apparently hero units don't die, they need time to regain health before they can attack again.





In the video you can also see some new walls, the walls there are either level 9 or 10, both walls will be in the new update, the other walls are here in a photo Supercell posted on Facebook




The new update will also show you troop donation numbers for your clan, so make sure you're generous!



The coming update is looking pretty big at the moment, and is probably coming very soon!

New Update - Clash of Clans Leagues 17/4/13 (3.124)


There is a new update, I haven't played this one yet (I really haven't had much time to play lately) but I have been reading through the release notes and it looks good, Im going to see what leagues is al about after this.

Introducing Leagues: compete in your own division!

✔ Joining a League is easy: just own 400 trophies or more!

✔ Get a Loot Bonus out of every victory just from being in a League!

✔ Loot Bonus increases the higher you climb in the Leagues



New unit, defenses and building upgrades

✔ Rock Hard: summon a mighty Golem with Dark Elixir. A glutton for punishment, the Golem won't stop even if you ♥♥♥♥ it in half!

✔ Upgrade the Dark Barracks to level 4 to unlock the Golem

✔ Bolster your defenses with an additional Wizard Tower and a Seeking Air Mine at Town Hall level 9

✔ Level 5 Clan Castle and level 7 Hidden Tesla upgrade now available, also at Town Hall level 9!



Clan improvements

✔ Clan Leader is now able to send messages directly to Clan Members' inboxes

✔ Chat message formatting overhauled

✔ Clan tournament length increased to two weeks, reward doubled

✔ Troop donation statistics now reset every other week

✔ Clan troop donation information is now visible to all players, not just Clan members



Usability improvements

✔ If Clan Castle has space for more troops, "Request" message displayed on top of it

✔ Added option for rotating a Wall section

✔ Added confirmation dialog when speeding up unit and spell upgrades

✔ Attack notification improved for players playing with multiple devices



Balance tweaks

✔ The percentage of loot that can be stolen from Gold Storage and Elixir Storage was decreased to make it easier for newer players to save up resources. The maximum possible amount of loot remains the same.

✔ Upgrade times for Hog Rider, Minion, and Valkyrie decreased

✔ Air Bomb explosion radius decreased

✔ Level 5 Minion hitpoints decreased

✔ Hidden Tesla trigger radius increased

✔ Gold Mine, Elixir Pump and Dark Barracks upgrade times reduced

✔ Spells are now much faster to create

✔ Balloons explode and deal additional damage when destroyed

✔ Wall Breaker behavior improved

✔ Mortar and Wizard Tower don't restart their attack cycle if their would-be target is destroyed, instead they switch targets

✔ Clan Castle troops deploy faster to the battlefield

✔ When your village is under attack from flying units only, your melee troops will stay inside the Clan Castle

Town Hall 8 Ultimate Clan War Base Design - Defense Proof


Hey fellow clashers. I'm back again with a new base design for Town Hall level 8 for clan war that I've been testing in these last 2 weeks on my own account (my in-game name is KeyLogger and i'm level 73). The reason that pushed me to share this base design with you it's that the last war it defended some really heavy attacks more precisely it defended 2 from 3 attacks.

This base is a modification of a base called Tempest but since the Halloween Update most of these bases were outdated because of the 4-th mortar added in-game. So i modified this base and fitted a 4-th mortar perfectly on the design.

Here are the pros and cons of this base :

Pros :

  • Air Defense are centered.
  • The third layer around the top of Town Hall is fill with spring traps so giants will fly away like leafs.
  • Clan Castle is centered which makes it difficult to lure out clan troops.
Cons :

  • Two of the Air Defenses are to close each other.
  • Vulnerable to groups of Wizards.

Now here are some screenshot of the defenses that this awesome base made during the last was. It got attacked 3 times with Giants lvl 6, Wizards lvl 6, Hogs & many more troops but it managed to make 2 defenses and get defeated only once 62%.

First Attack - 43% Defended


Second Attack - 28% Defended


Third Attack - 66% Defeated

Maybe all of us knew about Hog Rider. After the new update (unlurable heroes, Giant Bomb), we think Supercell killed hogs. But no, we still have chances for them.
Here are the combo of hog riders, witches, wizards, which can destroy almost of th9s, enjoy it now!!!

How to combo:
 - Combo 1: 29 hogs,3 witches, 3 wizards, 1 giant, 4 wall breakers, 7 archers, 2 barbs, 3 healing, 1 rage
 - Combo 2: 29 hogs,3 witches, 3 wizards, 1 giant, 4 wall breakers, 7 archers, 2 barbs, 4 healing,
 - CC troops: all hogs

Clash of clans Christmas 2014 Update - Update 11/12

After a long wait the Christmas update is finally here!

the Biggest update for me is the long overdue level 12 collectors, not to mention the also long overdue layout editor!

Here is a list of everything included:



Layout Editor
✔ Save multiple layouts for both your home Village and your War Base!
✔ Switch between layouts easily at any time
✔ Make copies of existing layouts or build new layouts from scratch
✔ Edit inactive layouts at any time - you can even take a break and finish later!








New goodies
✔ Level 12 Gold Mines and Elixir Collectors at Town Hall 8!
✔ Level 7 Giants are stomping into Town Hall 10
✔ Compare your clan to others in clan local leaderboards!







Other improvements
✔ Under attack? You can now watch a live replay while waiting to load your Village!
✔ Hero ability icons now show remaining hitpoints and will start flashing when low - use their ability to recover some HP!
✔ Resume boost button now shows how much time is remaining for the boost
✔ Improved level display for troops/heroes/spells
✔ Pending join requests are now limited to 10 per clan to prevent spamming (additional join requests cannot be sent)

Economy balancing
✔ Upgrading Walls with Elixir is now available only when upgrading to Wall level 9 and higher
✔ The first Dark Elixir Drill is now available at Town Hall 7
✔ The second Dark Elixir Drill is now available at Town Hall 8
✔ Dark Elixir Drill maximum capacity has been increased on all levels
Combat balancing
✔ Archer Towers now shoot twice as fast to better take down weak hordes (total damage remains unchanged)
✔ Inferno Towers now shoot for a longer time before getting depleted (loading cost remains the same)
✔ Army camps have heavily decreased hitpoints - no more stubborn campfires!
✔ Cannons, Barracks, Laboratory, Spell Factory and Dark Elixir Drills have higher HP on almost all levels
✔ Hitpoint values have been adjusted slightly for many other buildings
✔ Lava Pup HP has been slightly decreased





Unfortunately for me all of my builders are busy for the next 4 days :(

Archer Tower shoots x2 faster Christmas 2014 Update



Next Sneak Peak released by SuperCell after the two previous one Christmas Update 2014 Sneak Peak 1 and Sneak Peak 2 Gold Mine and Elixir Collectors level 12 is really exciting, they made Archer Tower shoot twice faster as the regular speed but half a damage per shoot, so if the Damage per Second is 52 then in one second it will shoot two arrows but with damage 26 for one.

Will this affect the game ?

After this news release a lot of people started to wonder if this will make Archer Towers like X-bows or will make them more powerful. The answer is no in Archer Towers from level 1 to at least 9 and yes in Archer Towers from level 10 to 13. Easiest way to explain this is to use Archers as example.

Will not affect the game in Town Hall from level 8 and below because :
In low-mid level Archer Towers like 1 to 9 this makes no difference because if a level 5 Archer has 40 hit points than it will take two "one second" shoots to take her down.

Will affect the game in Town Hall from level 9 and above because :
But in higher level Archer Tower like 10 to 13 when a level 5 Archer has 40 hit points and a level 12 Archer Tower has 86 damage per second then two "one second" shoots will take down 2 Archers level 5 .

Hog rider attack strategy after update - Clash of clans

Maybe all of us knew about Hog Rider. Hog rider is a very powerful troop, can destroy almost of bases easily, right? But with the new update (unlurable heroes), someone said that no chances for using Hog Rider. But no, we still have chances for them. Some bases still put heroes outside or nearby outside, and we can kill them first, after that is the job for Hog rider . Here is some nice Hog rider battles at almost max town hall 10, watch it now

Hog riders + GoWiWiPe combo:
- Your troops: 2 golem, 3 witches, 12 wizards, 17 hogs, 3 wall breakers, 5 goblins,
- Spell: 1 freeze, 1 rage, 1 lightning, 2 heal
- CC troops: 1 pekka, 1 valkyrie, 2 barbarian

Normal combo:
 - Combo 1: 38 hogs,3 witchs, 4 wall breakers, 6 barbs, 3 healings, 1 rage, 1 freeze
 - Combo 1: 36 hogs, 2 giants, 2 witchs, 8 wall breakers, 10 barbs, 4 healings, 1 rage
 - CC troops: 2 witchs, 2 wizs, 3 barbs

Clash of clans base designs for town hall 10, town hall 9, town hall 8, town hall 7 after update in 2014

  • Centralize Clan Castle: hard for luring troops out
  • Centralize King/Queen: no Hog Raider please )
  • Infernos distance: attacker can't freeze 2 infernos with just 1 freeze spell
  • Anti Dragons: air defenses & air mine seeking nearby the town hall
  • Anti Gowipe: almost of landing troops will go around because many layers of walls
  • Resources: well-protected for dark/gold storages
  • Hidden tesla: sudden tesla will navigate attackers, they will make around trip for attacking this tesla.
  • Traps: put inside, anti imod/xmod tool (some im0d gamers detect our traps and try to destroy it before real attack)
